Bumicerts
(Previously Ecocerts)
Bumi·certs: Bumi (Earth) + certs (environmental impact certificates)
Bumi means Earth in languages like Malay and Indonesian, spoken by millions across Southeast Asia. The name reflects who we build for: the global majority doing environmental work on the ground.
What is Bumicerts?

A bumicert is proof that environmental work happened. Each one tells the story of real action.
Backed by evidence
Led by communities
Verified by the platform

Bumicerts connects communities doing environmental work with people who want to support them.
Document your work
Get verified
Receive funding
Why Bumicerts?
Traditional environmental certifications are expensive, complex, and built for large organizations. Small communities and early-stage projects get left out, even when they're doing some of the most important work.
Bumicerts works differently. Start at any level. Build your evidence over time. Get recognized and supported along the way.
How Does Bumicerts Work?
What Kinds of Projects Get Certified?
Bumicerts cover seven environmental domains. A project can span more than one if the evidence supports it. Each domain has a minimum scale requirement to ensure the evidence is meaningful.
Ecological Restoration
Forests, mangroves, riparian areas, and coastal wetlands. Must involve direct intervention on land or land-connected ecosystems.
Agroforestry and Sustainable Agriculture
Regenerative and diversified production systems.
Climate Adaptation and Resilience
Water security, disaster risk reduction, climate-resilient livelihoods.
Biodiversity Monitoring and Conservation
Species monitoring, habitat protection, bioacoustics, community-based MRV.
Environmental Education
Programs tied to measurable behavior change or concrete eco-actions.
Indigenous and Local Knowledge Systems
Traditional stewardship and knowledge co-production.
Environmental Justice and Health
Projects connecting environmental quality to community health and well-being.
What Makes a Bumicert Credible?
Every Bumicert is built on MRV (Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification). That means impact isn't just described, it's documented and checkable.
Measurable outputs
Area restored, trees planted, participants trained. Something concrete and observable.
Site boundaries
Every project is anchored to a specific location. All evidence is tied to a real place and time period.
Evidence layers
Projects submit a combination of field data like acoustic recordings and drone imagery, governance records like community meeting minutes, and interpreted analysis like species identification or behavior change data. More layers means more credibility.
What's Coming?
Bumicerts is still growing. A few features are in development:
Good Data Tiers will grade each Bumicert from Seed to Forest based on how complete and strong the evidence is. The more layers, the higher the tier.
Framework Alignment will let projects show how they contribute to global commitments like UN SDGs, UNFCCC, IPBES, and national biodiversity strategies.
AI Labeler will automate domain detection, country tagging, tier assignment, and framework validation.
